What is BaduAds.com?

BaduAds.com is an online marketplace built for Sri Lanka. The name comes from the Sinhala word බඩු (badu), meaning goods or things, so "BaduAds" simply means ads for goods. It brings buyers and sellers from every district into one place: a family selling a used car in Kurunegala, a landowner listing a plot in Gampaha, a phone shop in Colombo, a tutor in Kandy or a salon in Galle.

Everything is local. Prices are in rupees, every ad shows the district it is in, and search works the way people in Sri Lanka look for things: by what they want and where they live. Buyers do not need an account to browse or to call a seller who shows a phone number, and sellers can publish an ad in a few minutes from a phone or a computer.

Almost anything that is legal to sell in Sri Lanka. Ads are organised into these categories:

How to buy safely on BaduAds.com

1. Search with a keyword and a district, for example "Toyota Aqua" in Kandy, then show the newest first or set a price range.
2. Read the whole ad: photos, condition, price and the seller's details. Business sellers are labelled.
3. Contact the seller by phone, WhatsApp or chat and ask the questions that matter to you.
4. Inspect before you pay. Meet in a busy public place, test the item, and for vehicles and land check the registration certificate, deeds and survey plan.
5. Never pay an advance to someone you have not met, and never share an OTP or bank PIN. BaduAds.com never asks for them.

Create a free account as an individual or a business, then post your ad: choose a category, add a clear title, the price and good photos, pick your district and add how buyers can reach you. Ads must follow the posting rules: one item per ad, honest photos and a real price.

Tips for an ad that sells

Buyers compare many ads, so the ones with clear facts get the calls. A few habits make a big difference:

• Use real photos in daylight. Show the whole item and any marks or damage. Add several angles; the first photo is the one buyers see in search.
• Write a specific title. "Toyota Aqua 2014, 85,000 km, Kandy" gets more clicks than "Car for sale".
• Give a fair, real price and say if it is negotiable. Ads with a price get more serious enquiries than "call for price".
• Add the details buyers ask first. For vehicles: year, mileage, fuel, transmission and whether you have the original documents. For land: size in perches or acres, deed type, road access and distance to the town. For phones: storage, battery health and warranty. For jobs: salary range, hours and location.
• Answer quickly. Most buyers contact several sellers; the first useful reply usually wins the sale.
• Mark the ad as sold from your dashboard when the item is gone, so buyers stop calling.

How promotions help your ad sell faster

Promotions put your ad in front of more buyers for 7 days. Featured ads appear in the Featured listings section on the home page. Top and Bump up ads are shown at the top of search results, ahead of ordinary ads. Urgent adds an urgent label that buyers can filter by, and Highlight makes the ad stand out in the list. Payments on BaduAds.com

Packages and promotions are paid in rupees through PayHere, a Central Bank approved payment gateway in Sri Lanka. It accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards, mobile wallets such as eZ Cash, mCash and Genie, and online banking. BaduAds.com never sees your card details. Payments for the items themselves are made directly between buyer and seller.

Selling as a business

Dealers, shops, agents and service providers can sign up with a business account. Your business name is shown on every ad, buyers can open a storefront page with all your ads, and larger packages such as Business Pro cover up to 30 ads for 30 days. It suits vehicle sale yards, real estate agents, phone and electronics shops, salons and training institutes.
