Culture at BaduAds.com

How we work, what we care about and what it is like to build BaduAds.com.

Last updated

BaduAds.com is a Sri Lankan classifieds marketplace. We help people find what they need, sell what they have and connect with the right buyer or seller nearby. Our culture is how we get that done: the habits, priorities and standards we hold ourselves to every day.

What we believe

  • Local first. We build for how Sri Lankans actually buy, sell and communicate, from Colombo to Jaffna, and in every district in between.
  • Users before metrics. A buyer who finds a fair deal and a seller who gets a genuine enquiry matter more than any dashboard number.
  • Honesty by default. We don't show fake listings, fake reviews or invented statistics, and we don't make promises our product can't keep.
  • Trust is earned slowly. Every decision about safety, privacy and moderation is a decision about whether people can rely on us.

How we work

Ownership

We take responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks. If something is broken, whoever finds it raises it, and if it's yours, you see it through.

Small steps, real feedback

We prefer shipping a simple improvement, measuring it and learning, over long plans built on assumptions. We look at what users do, including searches that return nothing, and let that guide what we build next.

Clear, respectful communication

We write things down, explain the "why" behind decisions and disagree openly but kindly. Good ideas can come from anyone, whatever their role or seniority.

Quality that lasts

We care about the details people notice, such as fast pages, clear prices and forms that work on a phone, and the ones they don't, such as secure code, careful data handling and reliable payments.

Growing together

As BaduAds.com grows, we want it to be a place where people learn quickly and do the best work of their careers. That means honest feedback, room to try new things and support when something goes wrong. Mistakes are treated as chances to improve the system, not to blame individuals.

Our culture in one line: build a marketplace Sri Lankans can trust, and treat each other the way we want our users to be treated.
